Your First Sunday Visit
We’re glad you’re interested in Neartown Church! We are “inviting busy people to experience the peace of life with Jesus Christ.” We start this faith community with hopes of providing relevant faith for the city.
What time does it start, and what happens?
NT Worship begins at 10:00 am at the Gregory Lincoln Education Center, 1101 Taft St, Houston TX 77019. Click here for a map.
The service will end no later than 11:15. If you have children, please begin dropping them off at 9:40 so you can have plenty of time to make your way upstairs and find a seat prior to 10:00. Every Sunday looks something like this:
A brief introduction to our church, followed by a time to meet someone around you. If its your first visit, we guarantee someone will come say hello.
A time of songs led by a modern band, with words on screen so that everyone can participate in this act of worship. Many people sing during this time, but merely listening to the music is completely acceptable. Click here to check out some music by Matt and Cameron Hammon, our regular worship leaders.
Pastor Russell will lead people to read the scriptures and understand what it means with application that deals with real life. We’re currently teaching through the Gospel of John. Visit to listen to messages from past weeks.
A time to reflect on the broken body and shed blood of Jesus Christ to atone for the sins of the world.
A time for Mission Partners to give financially to support the work of Neartown Church. We do not pass the plate or compel anyone to give against their will, believing that God loves a cheerful giver.
A brief announcement along with instructions for first time guest and those looking to take the next step like attending an upcoming event, participating in a service project or visiting a home group.
An encouraging word spoken over the congregation as the service ends.
How do I get there, and where do I park?
We are meeting at the Gregory Lincoln Education Center (1101 Taft St, Houston TX 77019) at the corner of Taft & W. Dallas. Free parking is available at the school as well as on the streets surrounding the facility.
What about my children?
Bring them! They will love KidCity, our program for children ages birth through 5th grade. All teachers are fully trained and background checked by Neartown Church. If you are interested in seeing the NT Kids area prior to Sunday morning, feel free to contact us to set up a brief tour.
For more information about KidCity, visit kids.neartownchurch.org
What about my teenagers?
Our Sunday Worship is a great opportunity for all ages, including teenagers, to hear relevant music and a compelling talk by Pastor Russell. Small groups focused on training teenagers will be provided throughout the week.
Do I need to bring anything with me?
If you own a Bible, we would encourage you to bring one with you, as well as something you can take notes with. If you don’t have a Bible, we will be glad to provide one for you to use. And if you have a smartphone, we would encourage you to visit youversion.com/download to get the Bible on your phone.
What do I wear?
Neartown Church believes you should “come as you are.” If comfortable for you means jeans and flip-flops, wear that. If comfortable for you means suit and tie, wear that.
I’m not a Christian, is that OK?
Definitely, we would love to have you join us! We welcome people from all faiths and backgrounds to join us in worshipping the God of the Bible and learning about the life and work of Jesus Christ. If you’re curious as to what we believe, you are welcome to review our Statement of Faith.
Can I listen or watch prior to attending on a Sunday?
Yes! Click here for our Sunday morning live stream and our audio and video archive of previous messages.
